I hired Gretchen to assist me with development of my luxury condominium complex in Belize. She worked with me closely on the business plan and extensive spreadsheet projections as well as information to provide for bank loan. After that I hired her to handle my expense related accounting and keep accounts on track. We are on Phase 3 and the project will launch in 2024.  It was a large undertaking for me and she has been very responsive and helpful. We met Gretchen Smith on a trip to Belize in 2018. She was the property manager and business owner for the resort in which we stayed. Gretchen was kind and helpful in answering our questions and aiding in our comfort during our stay. She was very knowledgeable about the locals, the region and the culture. We would recommend Gretchen to anyone who may be looking for a caretaker of their property or business endeavors. Gretchen is very involved with the children and school system of Belize. Her Ministry work has helped many of the children as well as adults. She mentors many children after school in an effort to improve their education. It gives me pleasure to be able to write this letter of recommendation for Gretchen Smith, whom I have known for more than 20 years.  My husband and I first met Gretchen as we began building a coffeehouse and residence in the Lowertown Arts District of Paducah.  An old area of the city which had fallen into decay by 2000, Lowertown was revitalized by the Artist Relocation project of the city of Paducah.  Gretchen was one of the many artists who came to breathe new life, art and culture into an important historic district.

From the beginning, we could tell that Gretchen was a powerful force for positive change. An artist, educator and deeply religious person, Gretchen tapped into those strengths to help forge a new community.  She worked tirelessly with no financial support to help those displaced by the, in effect, re-gentrification of a 9-square-block area of Paducah.  She seemed always to be there at the right time.  For example, a natural care-giver and take-charge person, Gretchen was in our coffeehouse one Sunday afternoon when an elderly neighbor had a stroke.  She calmed the clientele and stayed by the side of the man until help arrived.  In a similar manner several years later, Gretchen, as a friend, came to help us when my father-in-law unexpectedly when into the hospital and subsequently died.  Gretchen was right there to comfort us and to give us direction in our grief.  To show you the depth of feeling the Lowertown community had for Gretchen, they came together to buy a used truck for her when she had a transportation need, being called to minister in Mexico.  I can tell you that Gretchen is a responsible individual and trusted by those who know her.  She is reliable, resilient and resourceful.  She commits herself to whatever task is before her and does not stop until it is successfully completed.  I have no reservations in recommending Gretchen Smith in whatever capacity she seeks.  She is an asset to her community, wherever that is in the world.

I have known Gretchen for almost 20 years now, and during that time I have seen her passion for helping people shine through in the many projects she has so diligently and skillfully carried out God called her to serve in the community of Rosarito, Mexico- where in the midst of her day-to day ministry work, she also helped build partnership and cross-collaboration between various stakeholders to undertake the construction of a 30,000 square foot orphanage to house victims of Human Trafficking. Gretchen has spearheaded strategic spiritual warfare training for missionaries and church leaders and foundational church growth efforts among the Garifuna people in the greater Caribbean and is also very involved in educating leaders in Belize. She did this while simultaneously working collaboratively with government agencies and NGO’s in strategic development efforts regarding the Migrant Crisis in Central America and Mexico as well as violence reduction due to gang and cartel warfare. She is a capable leader who has faced extensive trauma and fight to continue to overcome that everyday.

In short, Gretchen is one of the most passionate, determined and resourceful individuals I have ever met and I have the utmost confidence that she would be an asset to any organization or project that would be blessed by her involvement.
